“ The Board of Directors at MSS are pleased to announce changes in the company’s leadership effective 1/1/2011. Founded in 1969 by Jean Scharr as a single shareholder C corporation,  Jean sold his interests and was succeeded by his sons, Stephen, Peter and Paul as second generation shareholder/employees in 1988. Forty plus years after its founding, this family owned business continues to thrive despite current difficult economic conditions. The company’s executive team has worked for several years to develop a plan to select, train and install new team of leaders to take the company into the third generation of organizational change including non-family management and leadership. Today’s announcement of a leadership change marks the beginning of this transition process.

          After several years of discussion, planning and collaboration, Paul Scharr has been selected to replace Stephen Scharr, elevating from Chief Operating Officer to replace Stephen as  President. Paul was nominated and unanimously elected by the Board as President in recognition of his years-long efforts in developing the organization’s operational and control systems.  Paul has begun planning a “Change Initiative” process to more aggressively promote continuous improvement, innovation and professional management within the company. Long range goals include improving the branding and market awareness of the company’s Metalwërks® products, drive real innovation and ultimately  to better serve the needs of its customers.

       After 22 years of serving as President, Stephen Scharr will remain as an officer of the company and serve in varying functions:  in-house counsel, as a resource for the President for special projects and in business development functions as directed by the VP of Sales & Marketing, Brian McClelland.”
